Her body was jammed behind the fidge outside in the passage under the stairs outside her home in Eburn Road, Upper Holloway, north London.

A pathologist said:

The body was atoo severely decomposed to say what caused her death.

She was last heard of on 13 November 1981 when she told her parents she was going to visit them, but was never seen again until her remains were found.

She had been married for two years  and her husband, who reported her missing, said that they had had many arguments during that time. He added that he thought she had returned home afer she went missing.

Kathy Sweeney's father told the inquest that he thought that his daughter had been beaten up during her stormy marriage. However, her husband denied having ever hit her.

The Coroner said:

We have a great many questions which remain unanserwed. I'm sure it will continue to occupy the thoughts of those involved in the investigation.

When the Coroner recorded an open verdict, he said:

It is quite clear her death was not a natural one, and there are highly suspicious circumstances.
