Frances Coles was stabbed to death beneath a railway arch in Whitechapel and is thought by some to have been the final victim of Jack the Ripper.
She was found in the early hours of Friday 13 February 1891, under the dark brick archway of Swallow Gardens, a narrow passage near Chamber Street, just off Leman Street. The discovery brought renewed fear that the Ripper had struck again after a silence of nearly two years.
