Junaid Wasahat Sheikh was attacked at a Miss Dynamite gig at Cookies and Cream at the Scala in Kings Cross, London on Sunday 19 May 2002.

There had been numerous fights on the dance floor during the night and the police interviewed about 480 people but were unable to make any progress in solving the case. It was noted that there had been about 600 people at the event and the police said that they were additionally interested in speaking to the other people as well.

Junaid Sheikh died about an hour after he was assaulted at the nightclub after being punched in the head.

The police were called to the nightclub at 3.40am and Junaid Sheikh was taken to University College Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4.20am.

His post mortem found that his cause of death was due to his head injury.

The person that had punched him was described as:

  • Asian.
  • Aged between 18 and 24.
  • About 5ft 8in tall.
  • Dark hair that was close-cropped at the sides and gelled on top.

Seven people were arrested shortly after the murder but no one was charged.
