Date: 18 Apr 1915
Place: Leeds And Liverpool Canal
Laura Johnson was found dead in the Leeds and Liverpool canal.
She had been living with a man in Shadwell Street, Liverpool for some time, and it was heard that she was addicted to drink, although quite healthy.
It was heard that she had left home on the evening of 1 April 1915 and then on the Wednesday the man that she had been living with received a letter from her asking him to send her a pawn ticket and telling him not to disclose where she was living as she was in debt. The man said that he replied to her letter but said that his reply was returned as she had left the address that she had given.
Her body was later found in the canal on the Sunday, 18 April 1915.
An open verdict was returned.
