George John Wraight died after falling from a horse.
George Wraight was a market gardener and had attended a country sale where he was induced into buying a horse for £18 on the promise that there was another man at hand who was willing to pay him £20 for it. However, after George Wraight had bought the horse the other man had disappeared.
It was said then that some confederates helped him to mount in pursuit and then thrashed the horse in such a manner that through its restiveness George Wraight received fatal injuries.
A verdict of manslaughter against some person or persons unknown was returned.
