Ian Roach was stabbed in the street when he went out for some cigarettes.
He had just become engaged to a girl about six hours before he was murdered and was having an engagement party when he went out to buy some cigarettes and never returned.
He had gone out with a friend when it was said that he got into an argument with a youth in a dark hatchback car near his house. A car had pulled up and Ian Roach had started to argue with a passenger in the car. The passenger then got out and started to walk to a nearby address but then returned to the car and got a knife and stabbed Ian Roach once in the chest.
The man then got back into the car which sped off.
Ian Roach was taken to University College Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The men in the car were described as black and aged between 19 and 22. They were said to have been dressed casually and to have had athletic builds.
