The body of a newly-born child was found floating in the Ravensbourne in Lewisham.
The child was quite naked. It was found by a woman floating in the Ravensbourne at about 11am on Wednesday 12 February 1908.
A doctor said that the child was fully developed and had been dead for about a fortnight. He said that the child had been born alive but had been not properly looked after and had been suffocated.
The River Ravensbourne is also known as Deptford Creek.
