Mohammed Junaid Khan

Age: 21

Sex: male

Date: 9 Jul 2009

Place: Block Lane Surgery, Chadderton, Lancashire

Mohammed Junaid Khan was shot multiple times outside Block Lane Surgery on Block Lane in Chadderton on Thursday 9 July 2009 just after midnight.

He had been shot with a Mac-10 machine gun with 17 bullets having been fired.

Four men were tried for his murder in 2011 but cleared. One of the men was a drug dealer and told the court that he had been too busy running a drugs empire to have had the time to be a contract killer. It was heard that there was also a fifth suspect who had since left for Pakistan, but the police said Crown lawyers advised them that there was not case to pursue him.

The man that was said to have been the gun deal said that it was not hm as he was making a drugs deal at the time. After he was acquitted the police obtained transcripts of his evidence at the trial and arrested him for conspiracy to supply heroin and cocaine, cannabis production, converting criminal property and encouraging or assisting the commission of offences for which he was convicted and sentenced to 6 years. The man was said to have made £769,504 from drug dealing and the police secured an order against him under the Proceeds of Crime Act to repay £232,138, money that he had made from his crimes, which the police financial forensic experts said was still unaccounted for or serve up to an additional 6 years in prison. The court heard that he led a playboy lifestyle and had owned a number of high-performance cars and had spent thousands of pounds on shopping sprees for designer clothes.

The four men were aged, in 2011, 23, 29, 28 and 26.

The prosecution said that Mohammed Khan's execution was the climax of a long-standing feud.

Mohammed Khan had been walking back to his parked car outside Block Lane Surgery after seeing his girlfriend and some friends when a man came by and shot him multiple times. Mohammed Khan then tried to run off but collapsed after which the man came over and shot him several more times in the body.

Mohammed Khan was taken to hospital, still alive, but died shortly after arrival.

The gunman was thought to have been driven to the scene by an accomplice in a silver Mitsubishi Shogun, registration YP57 XSH, which was found shortly after, burnt out.

At the trial of the four men, it was heard that much of the evidence against them related to their drug dealing activities and not the murder itself.
