William Devlin

Age: 22

Sex: male

Date: 28 Mar 1957

Place: River Thames, Fulham Power Station

William Devlin was found dead in the River Thames at Fulham power station on 28 March 1957.

His body was found at the same time as that of Teresa Williams but it was reported that their deaths were in no way connected. It was said that the strong suction by the water intake at Fulham power station tended to draw bodies to that spot.

William Devlin was from Ireland and had come over to England to live with his uncle about eight or nine weeks earlier.

His uncle, who lived in Hazelbury Road, Fulham, said that William Devlin seemed very depressed, did not eat, and could not sleep and said that he 'just moped about'.

It was noted that on 12 or 19 March 1957 that a man was reported as having been seen falling from Wandsworth Bridge. However, no witnesses were found that could provide a description of the man and it as said that there was nothing to connect that incident with the finding of William Devlin's body.

An open verdict was returned.

William Devlin was from Upper Drumsura in Londonderry.

Fulham power station had been just southeast of Byam Street.
