Sex: male
Date: 12 Nov 1924
Place: Howard Mill, Stratton
The body of a baby was found in a sewage tank at Howard's Mill, Stratton.
Cut up pieces of it were found by a man working there. After first discovering the pieces they cleared the tank and found other portions of the body.
A police inspector said that the pieces belonged to a male child and that other pieces had been found in a syphon pit.
A doctor said that the head, left foot, and other body parts had been cut off the body, which was that of a newly-born child. However, he said that there was no evidence to show a separate existence.
He said that all the limbs, he thought, had been cut off with a sharp chopper and that a knife and possibly scissors had also been used.
An open verdict was returned, there being no evidence to show that the child had had a separate existence.
